Meaning of Bowl in the Bible

Ezekiel 24: 1-6 Jerusalem as a Cooking Pot

In the ninth year, in the tenth month on the tenth day, the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, record this date, this very date, because the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. Tell this rebellious people a parable and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“‘Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it. Put into it the pieces of meat, all the choice pieces—the leg and the shoulder. Fill it with the best of these bones; take the pick of the flock. Pile wood beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it.

Summary of Parable above

People are "meat" being cooked in different "pots" which are lighted up by different "fires"

🥣 Spiritual Bowl = Instrument/People used by God

🍲 Spiritual Pot = where hearts gather, church

🥩 Spiritual meat = people

• Jeremiah 1:13 The word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?” “I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.” --> Jeremiah saw a servant acting on behalf of God to carry out the work of destruction

⚖️ Spiritual Scale = Word of God

• Proverbs 24:12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work? --> God weighs our hearts

• Proverbs 11:1, 20:23, 16:11 The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him. Unequal weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are not good. A just balance and scales are the LORD’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.

• Job 31:6 Let me be weighed in a just balance, and let God know my integrity!

• Leviticus 19:35-36 “You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measures of length or weight or quantity. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. --> Honest scales that please God/belong to God vs false scales

• Revelation 6:5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. --> Rider with a pair of scales carrying out work of judgment
